Hunt & Sons Begins Selling Clean Diesel in Sacramento Area
by Mark Anderson (Sacramento Business Journal) Sacramento fuel distributor Hunt & Sons Inc. has begun selling domestically produced clean biodiesel at some locations in Northern California.
The REG Ultra Clean diesel is made by Ames, Iowa-based Renewable Energy Group Inc. and is made mostly from recycled and refined deep fryer oil.
REG Ultra Clean is “a low carbon liquid transportation fuel for use in diesel engines for transportation,” said Gary Haer, spokesman with Renewable Energy Group (Nasdaq: REGI).
The deal with Hunt & Sons is the first branded distribution of REG Ultra Clean in California. The company has been selling its product directly to some fleets, he said.

Sacramento-based Propel Fuels began selling a similar product in 2015. That fuel, Diesel HPR, is provided by Espoo, Finland-based Neste, which refines the fuel in Singapore from components imported from Vietnam and Australia. The Neste Diesel HPR is made from vegetable oils, recycled animal grease, tallow and 1% diesel, which has to be added for regulatory purposes in California. READ MORE
