$60M Biomass Plant to Tap into Lafourche Bagasse
(New Orleans City Business) A Lafourche Parish mill will be the site of a $60 million biochemical facility that will turn the waste product of the sugar refining process into a useable product.
Virdia Inc. announced today, with Gov. Bobby Jindal, that it will build the plant next to the Raceland Raw Sugar Corp. mill. It will turn bagasse into high-value industrial sugars and biofuels.
