Uganda: Planned Sweet Sorghum Project to Create 250 Jobs
by Dennis Picco (Esse Community) Up to 250 jobs are expected to be created in Kayunga District, Uganda, after the launch of the Sweet Sorghum Energy Plant. The plant will use sweet sorghum stems as the primary raw material.
The $30m (Shs78b) project, which is being implemented by the Bio-Green Investments E.A Ltd, a local investment company, with a loan from Exim Bank in China, will have a bio-energy plant constructed in Kayonza Sub-county, which will produce 20 Million litres of bio-ethanol annually from sorghum stems.
