New Biofuel Development Guidelines Unveiled in Dar
by Michael Haonga (IPP Media/The Guardian) Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to sustain a multi-faceted strategy for harnessing power from various sources, including biofuel, to cover any shortfall.
The assurance was made in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday by Minister for Energy and Minerals William Ngeleja at a function to inaugurate an 18- page document titled “Guidelines for Sustainable Liquid Biofuels Development” in the country.
…He urged small scale farmers and other entrepreneurs to form groups or primary cooperative societies that could enter into contractual agreements with investors in the bio-fuel business.
…The document on bio-fuel guidelines outlines potential benefits that could be realised through the development of the biofuel industry, which include technology transfer through new bio-energy industries, employment and income generation in the industry and agricultural sectors.
Others include improved energy security, foreign exchange savings through a reduction in oil imports, increased foreign exchange through export of bio-fuel and reduced emissions of pollutants like lead carbon dioxide and other harmful particles. READ MORE
