MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge – Michelin to Continue the MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge
(Michelin) Building on the success it encountered in 2009, the MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge is to be organised once again and will this year cover the American Le Mans Series, the Le Mans Series, the Asian Le Mans Series and the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Serge Grisin, the manager of Michelin Competition’s four-wheel programmes, profited from the recent official 2010 Le Mans Series tests at Le Castellet, France, to confirm that the MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge will continue and that it will cover all the main endurance racing events and championships.
The 2009 MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge was won by Speedy Racing Team Sebah.
The intention of the MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge is to reward the most energy-efficient entries, i.e. those cars which succeed in finding the best balance between performance and low fuel consumption in each race. The classification is based on an Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) which is essentially the ratio between the competitor’s average speed (excluding time spent in the pits) and its average fuel consumption. To ensure a fair contest between diesel- and petrol-engined cars, fuel quantities will be converted from litres to joules.
The best-placed team at the end of the 2010 Le Mans Series will receive a guaranteed entry for the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours, on condition that it has contested at least four LMS races. READ MORE and MORE
