Government Extends Interest Subvention for Ethanol to Grain-Based Units
by Sanjay Dutta (MSN/Times of India) The government on Wednesday approved interest subvention of Rs 4,573 crore to raise ethanol manufacturing capacity to 1,000 crore litres by including grain-based distilleries in addition to just molasses-based units.
The government aims to use the scheme to expand the feedstock for making ethanol to non-sugarcane farm produce such as cereals such as rice, wheat, barley, maize, corn and sorghum as well as sugar beet.
Oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the scheme would boost production and distillation capacity to 1,000 crore litres and help in meeting the goal of 20% ethanol blending with petrol by 2030. READ MORE
