Education: Graduate Program Bioenergy Scholarships
This program offers scholarships for graduate professional courses in bioenergy – take a look at the bioenergy courses that are available, and envision how you could benefit from taking one of these graduate level, credit-bearing courses.
Submit your complete application, along with your CV and transcripts, to the NEWBio Graduate Distance Education Scholarship Office at NEWBioGradEdu@psu.edu. We will let you know if you are selected to receive a scholarship.
Enroll in your class, and learn from world experts in bioenergy, gaining valuable skills and understanding in this exciting field of study. Since the courses are delivered online, you have the ability to study from wherever you are, and fit your coursework into your schedule.
Put your new skills and qualifications to the test in the workplace. These courses are designed to provide you with advanced technical understanding, coupled with project development skills — both which are highly prized in the rapidly growing bioenergy sector.
The NEWBio graduate distance education program provides scholarship support to students wanting to enroll for one of the following online courses from Penn State World Campus:
- Bioenergy
- Bioenergy Feedstocks
- Bioenergy Harvest and Logistics
- Conversion Technologies for Bioenergy Production
Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Applicants must have completed at least a bachelors degree from a recognized university or college, and must enroll and participate in one of the above courses to receive the scholarship.
What it offers
Students who complete all four graduate bioenergy courses are potentially eligible for a graduate certificate in bioenergy from Penn State. In addition, outstanding students may be eligible to continue onward for a Masters of Professional Studies in Renewable Energy and Sustainability Systems.

Applications are now being accepted for Summer 2015 Scholarships!. Applications are due March 20, 2015, and courses will be held from May 17 to August 12. Scholarships are available for the two following courses:
- ABE 884, Biomass Energy Systems (3 cr)
- ABE 885, Biomass Harvesting and Logistics (3 cr)
(Note that ABE 884 is a pre-requisite for ABE 885.)
