Cartagena Authorizes the Installation of Two New Biofuel Units in the Escombreras Industrial Complex
(Europa Press (Google Translation)) The Department of Urban Planning of the Cartagena City Council has authorized the installation of new units in Repsol, within the C-46 project, for an amount of 3,465,940 euros for the production of biofuels, according to municipal sources in a statement. Specifically, Urbanism has given its approval to the declaration of responsibility presented by the company for the installation of a new fuel gas compressor to feed an existing unit and a new one, which will contribute to improving the energy efficiency of the plant of Escombreras, reducing the net production of high pressure steam without increasing the production of hydrogen. In this way, the oil company will consume excess fuel gas production in the Valle de Escombreras complex.
On March 7, the company began the construction of the first advanced biofuels plant in Spain, in which it is investing 200 million euros.
This plant will have the capacity to produce 250,000 tons per year of advanced biofuels such as biodiesel, biojet, bionaphtha and biopropane, for use in planes, ships, trucks or cars, and which will reduce 900,000 tons of CO2 per year. READ MORE
