USDA Report Confirms Advances in Feedstock Production Technology, Practices
(25 x25) The USDA reported last week that American farmers are expected to produce 12.3 billion bushels of corn, the second largest U.S. corn crop in history. After estimating all of the uses of corn, USDA projects an excess corn supply of 1.6 billion bushels. The report confirms that despite weather setbacks, the advances in yield technology and production practices assure that U.S. agriculture can produce enough corn to meet all domestic food, feed and fuel needs.
The report tends to discount claims from food companies and others that pose hurdles to a new energy future that increased production of corn ethanol is the primary factor behind higher food prices.
