by Meghan Gordon (Platts) The US International Trade Commission voted Friday to allow US biodiesel producers’ petition against Argentina and Indonesia to go forward.
The National Biodiesel Board filed the petition in March, seeking antidumping and countervailing duty measures against Argentina and Indonesia because of a surge in imports last year.

The petition accused Argentina of subsidizing raw materials costs and Indonesia of granting hundreds of millions of dollars to a handful of biodiesel producers. It said the subsidies have captured US market share through dumped pricing, with margins as high as 23% in Argentina and 34% in Indonesia.
The Advanced Biofuels Association has said the petition is baseless, arguing US biodiesel imports surged last year because of domestic producers’ inability to keep up with demand from the Renewable Fuel Standard’s rising blending mandate.
