The 50 Hottest Companies in Bioenergy and 30 Hottest Companies in Renewable Chemicals and Biobased Materials for 2012-13 Are Announced
by Jim Lane (Biofuels Digest) In California, Renewable oils developer Solazyme took the #1 spot in the 2012-13 “50 Hottest Companies in Bioenergy” rankings, announced today by Biofuels Digest at Advanced Biofuels Markets in San Francisco.
KiOR (#2), LanzaTech (#3), Novozymes (#4), POET (#5), DuPont Industrial Biosciences (#6), Gevo (#7), Sapphire Energy (#8), Joule Unlimited (#9), and ZeaChem (#10) round out the top 10.
Ranked #11 through #20 are Honeywell’s UOP, BP Biofuels, LS9, Chemtex / Beta Renewables, Amyris, Virent, INEOS Bio, Enerkem, Abengoa Bioenergy and Ceres.
The rankings, which recognize innovation and achievement in bioenergy development, are based 45 percent on votes from invited international selectors, 45 percent on votes from subscribers of Biofuels Digest and Biobased Digest, and 10 percent on votes via Twitter. More than 300,000 individual company ratings were logged by selectors, subscribers and Twitter voters, in total, in the 2012-13 Hot 30 and Hot 50 rankings. READ MORE and MORE (Top 150)

Solazyme (#2), Myriant (#3), Elevance Renewable Sciences (#4), LS9 (#5), DuPont Industrial Biosciences (#6), LanzaTech (#7), Amyris (#8), ZeaChem (#9) and Gevo (#10) round out the top 10.
