Origin’s patented technology platform is recognized for turning the carbon found in sustainable wood residues into useful everyday industrial biotechnology materials for consumers, and their technology can help revolutionize the production of a wide variety of end products, including clothing, textiles, plastics, packaging, car parts, tires, carpeting, toys, and more with a ~ $1 trillion addressable market. Origin’s contributions can be measured in making our planet an environmentally cleaner and safer place to live in. Origin Materials is currently building two facilities to meet the growing demand for these ‘net zero’-enabling materials. Origin 1, the company’s first commercial-scale plant, is currently being constructed in Sarnia, Canada and is expected to be completed by the end of 2022 with preparations for commissioning and start-up underway. The company also recently announced the construction of its first world-scale manufacturing facility, Origin 2, in Geismar, Louisiana. The 150-acre facility is expected to create an estimated 500 construction jobs, 200 local full-time positions, and between 500 and 1,000 indirect local jobs. The plant will convert an estimated 1 million dry metric tons of wood residues each year into products for a wide range of end markets and is expected to be operational mid-2025. Investment in the facility is expected to total approximately $1.07 billion, including pending state and local incentives.

Additional recent highlights from the Company include being awarded the EPA Green Chemistry Challenge Award for 2022 in Partnership with University of California, Davis.
