Nebraska Legislature Passes Cost Share Program for Ethanol Infrastructure
(WNAX) Last week Nebraska State Senators voted unanimously to pass LB 585, a measure creating a cost share grant program for installing infrastructure used to store, blend or dispense gasoline ethanol blends. Nebraska Ethanol Board Administrator Sarah Caswell says the overwhelming backing for the measure shows lawmakers support for the renewable fuels industry in Nebraska.
She says while Senators authorized the program, a funding source has yet to be identified. However, their industry representatives will be meeting to talk about that.
Caswell says once the program is running it will lead to more use of ethanol in Nebraska.
The bill sponsored by Senator Curt Friesen of Henderson calls for the State Department of Environment and Energy to award grants to qualified applicants for up to $1 million in grants in any calendar year. There are both three-year and five-year agreements available in the program. READ MORE
