Listening Sessions for the Transportation and Climate Initiative — May 21, 2018 — Hartford, CT AND — June 6, 2018 — Wilmington, DE
The Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI) is beginning to host listening sessions, inviting input on potential policy approaches to bring about a cleaner and more resilient transportation future across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region.
In November, recognizing the opportunities for communities and businesses in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic to benefit from transportation system renewal and modernization, eight states in this region announced the start of a public conversation about the “opportunities and challenges, the benefits we would all like to see in the transportation system of the future, and the policies that will enable us to realize this future together.”
Several regional meetings are planned for 2018, all of which will be convened by the Georgetown Climate Center on behalf of participating TCI states.These events include a set of facilitated discussions, designed to hear input on the following topics:
- How and why residents and businesses make the transportation choices they do;
- How to improve environmental quality and public health benefits while also increasing mobility and modernizing the transportation system;
- What an innovative, low-carbon transportation future might look like; and
- Policies and programs that could help achieve this vision.
A broad spectrum of stakeholders are invited to participate, including representatives from business and industry, transportation and policy experts, local and regional governments, academia, and non-governmental organizations.
