Kildee Highlights Bill that Would Allow More Ethanol in Gasoline Year-Round
by Ryan Jeltema (ABC 12) Legislation in the U.S. House aims to lower gas prices while supporting Mid-Michigan farmers. The Year-Round Fuel Choice Act was introduced last summer, but it’s being considered now because of the near-record high gas prices.
The bill would allow gasoline to be sold with 15% ethanol year-round. Right now, gasoline can only be sold with that much ethanol in the summer months.

Democrat Congressman Dan Kildee of Flint said increasing the ethanol content of gasoline would help farmers who grow corn, which is used to make the ethanol.

“By allowing the year-round sale of E15 fuel, made from mid-Michigan-grown corn, we will lower gas prices for Michiganders and enhance our energy independence,” said Kildee. “I am proud to introduce this legislation, and I will continue working to lower gas prices for Mid-Michigan families, seniors and small businesses.”
The Michigan Corn Growers Association, Michigan Agri-Business Association, Michigan Farm Bureau and several national agriculture groups support Kildee’s bill. READ MORE; includes VIDEO

We need more options with fuel (H0lland Sentinel)
Excerpt from Holland Sentinel: Michigan lawmakers have the opportunity to promote lower-cost fuel options like E15—an ethanol-gasoline blend that contains five percent more ethanol than standard blends, with Sen. Kevin Daley’s bill SB 814.
Annually, drivers in Michigan collectively save nearly $1.2 billion a year as a result of ethanol-blended fuel, often made with biofuel produced right here in Michigan. However, providing more options to motorists through statewide access to E15 at the pump could help more drivers save an additional 5 to 10 cents per gallon.
Now, more than ever, we need our legislators advocating for greater competition in the marketplace. Supporting SB 814 brings better, cost-saving options to Michigan’s motorists that will help us all save more at the pump, while investing in our communities. READ MORE
