In Defense of Renewable Fuel Standard

by Barry Blitstein  (Oklahoman)  … Calling the Renewable Fuel Standard a farce is an unfair assessment. It’s true that fracking has impacted the domestic energy picture but it’s only temporary. The IEA projects the Middle East as “the major source of future supply growth,” long after the U.S. shale oil boom has run its course by the mid-2020s. What then? Slamming the door on renewables means we import more oil from the Middle East and with that comes higher gas prices and the increased risk of military involvement overseas. We need to expand domestic renewable, climate-friendly sources. The RFS helps us do that by spurring investment in fuel research and development and infrastructure development.  READ MORE
