Houston-Based Company Proposes Ethanol Plant at Port

That might change with a recent vote by port commissioners to enter into negotiations with a company that has proposed putting the facility back into year-round operation and build an ethanol production plant on the site.
Two proposals were submitted in response to a request for proposals regarding the grain elevator. On the advice of consulting firm JFV Solutions, commissioners opted for the proposal submitted by Houston-based biofuels company BioUrja Trading LLC and sister company West Plains LLC, a grain operator.
Eduardo Campirano, port director and CEO, said the grain operation/ethanol plant was the most comprehensive of the two proposals. READ MORE
