Grant to Help Ethanol Production
by Sam Farmer (Wahoo Newspaper) Integrated Recycling of Mead was recently awarded a $35,495 grant from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) to aid in recycling efforts.
The funds will go toward a food de-packager/perforator to process 2,000 pounds per hour of full, outdated beverage cans and bottles.
The liquid will be taken to AltEn, the ethanol plant south of Mead, to produce ethanol and methane gas to operate boilers used in the ethanol process, according to NDEQ.
Local sources and companies from neighboring states will be able to bring their outdated products to Integrated Recycling to be recycled, instead of hauling to landfills. READ MORE
