Global Council for Science and the Environment (GCSE) Annual Conference — June 21-24, 2022 — ONLINE

You are invited to join with GCSE to explore the complex interactions between biodiversity and climate change, as we honor the legacy of the late Dr. Thomas Lovejoy, a scholarly giant of biodiversity, conservation, and climate change science.
The virtual format of the GCSE 2022 Annual Conference aims to offer the greatest level of access and inclusion to all who wish to attend; keep people healthy; and minimize environmental impacts. Please note that the GCSE research team is leading an effort to capture avoided environmental impacts including CO2 emissions as a result of holding GCSE 2022 virtually. The analysis will be shared publicly immediately following GCSE 2022.
Here are five benefits to participating:
- Knowledge: Attendees will hear from a broad array of researchers, faculty, and thought leaders at leading institutions and organizations representing the broad knowledge base of the global biological sciences community. Sessions over four days are dedicated to exploring priority topic areas related to the interconnectivity of biodiversity, conservation science, and climate change.
- Credibility: GCSE offers a forum for evidence-based solutions to biodiversity, conservation, and climate change challenges. The agenda was created with input from a Host Committee of distinguished faculty, researchers, and leaders of some of the top institutions addressing these important issues.
- Perspective: As a truly international organization, GCSE offers views and information from some of the farthest reaches of the world, from Western perspectives to the global South. Learn what’s being done to restore biodiversity in ecosystems, empower underserved and frontline communities, and engage with institutions to advocate for and improve science diplomacy.
- Networking: Attendees will be able to connect with peers to collaborate on opportunities to advance conservation strategies that protect global biodiversity and apply that knowledge learned to their work around the world. Students can also learn about careers in biodiversity, conservation science, and climate change mitigation.
- Intergenerational Leadership: From Lifetime Achievement Award winners who offer incredible historical experiences, to the students addressing tomorrow’s climate challenges through poster sessions, speakers will inspire action in conservation and biodiversity leaders.
Furthermore, holding the conference virtually reduces the environmental impact of convening participants from across the globe on these important topics. READ MORE
