Gas Gap: Changes Make E10 Cheaper, Regular Pricier

In the past, E10 was available as an 89-octane fuel, priced about a dime lower per gallon than ethanol-free, 87-octane regular-grade gasoline.

Now, E10 is sold at 87 octane — a blend of 84-octane regular gasoline with ethanol added to boost the octane to the state-mandated minimum of 87.
Refiners also are processing E0, or “clear” regular-grade gasoline, only now the fuel is a half-and-half blend of 84-octane E0 fuel with a higher-priced 91-octane premium. READ MORE
