EPA: Cellulosic RINs Were Generated in April
by Erin Voegele (Biomass Magazine) The U.S. EPA has released renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for April, reporting that both D3 cellulosic biofuel and D7 cellulosic diesel RINs were generated during the month.
EIA data indicates 643 D3 cellulosic biofuel RINs were generated in April, bringing the year-to-date total to 72,754 D3 RINs. According to the EPA, 28,586 D3 RINs were generated for cellulosic ethanol, while 44,168 were generated for renewable gasoline. So far, all 72,754 of those RINs were generated by domestic producers.
According to the EIA, 2,091 D7 cellulosic RINs were generated in April, bringing the total for the first four months of the year to 2,354 RINs. EIA data shows all 2,563 of these RINS were generated for cellulosic heating oil. To date, all 2014 D7 RINs have been generated by importers.
Approximately 21.13 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated in April, bringing the total for the first four months of the year to 46.85 million. Most, 27.51 million, were generated for ethanol, with more than 9.76 million generated for biogas. An estimated 5.52 million D5 RINs have been generated for naptha so far this year, along with 4.1 million for renewable diesel. Approximately 27.99 million D5 RINs were generated by domestic producers, with 18.91 million generated by importers. READ MORE
