E15 Battle Isn’t Over Yet
by Matthew Choi (Politico’s Morning Energy) Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) called on Congress to pass the bipartisan Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act (S. 2339 (117)) to allow year-round sales of fuel with higher blends of ethanol after the Supreme Court declined to weigh in on the issue. Selling fuel with 15 percent ethanol was restricted in the summer months due to air pollution regulations. The bill is backed by a number of Midwestern senators with near-even support from Democrats and Republicans.
“I hope Congress can act to fix this issue because it looks like the Supreme Court doesn’t want to,” Grassley told reporters Tuesday. “It makes no sense for a board of environmental regulation to prevent this E15 from being sold during the summer.” READ MORE
