Don’t Forget about the Agriculture Sector

Now what?” gave an analysis of how 15 business sectors, including marijuana and private prisons, would fare under President-elect Donald Trump. Two important sectors were missing: higher education and agriculture, including forestry. Both are vitally important to our country’s future.
Agriculture provides 2 million on-farm and farm-related jobs and supports an additional 3 million local jobs. When one includes regional food and biofuel manufacturing, equipment manufacturing and transportation associated with agriculture and agriculture products, these jobs increase by a factor of 10 or more and will continue to increase as we move from a fossil economy to a bioeconomy for much of our fuel and products currently made from petroleum.
