Cleantech and sustainability jobs are fast-growing segments of the economy. Join us for our 8/16 Green Jobs Forum to hear about growing a clean economy and green workforce from economic development and employment services officials from throughout the national capital region. Hear from those in our Leaders in Energy community who have found green jobs.
Our exhibitors include companies that are hiring clean energy and sustainability professionals, educators offering certifications and training in green/clean tech, and career assistance. We will also have door prizes!
Learn about the District of Columbia’s new Infrastructure Academy! This is a key initiative of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Administration, led by the Department of Employment Services (DOES) for training for new infrastructure. It includes an energy and utilities component with solar installation and job-training run by the Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) called Solar Works DC.
We have added, not only one, but two speakers from the District of Columbia to discuss this and other employment and workforce development initiatives at our Green Jobs Forum on August 16th!
Fred Beazer heads up the Business Group at DOES and Dr. Taresa Lawrence is the Deputy Director at DOEE. The DOEE also runs the DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) which is aimed at deploying energy efficiency measures that lower the carbon footprint and energy burden of DC residents in all eight wards. See more about these two speakers further below in this newsletter.
Take advantage of our early bird special which run through Thursday, August 9th and there are also student/job seeker rates.
Our 5th Annual Green Jobs Forum will be at 5:00 – 9:00 pm with Green Career and Networking workshops from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. Register for all three workshops and receive our “Bonanza Package.” Our event will take place on Thursday, August 16th, at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.
Even if you are not currently looking for a job, this will be a great way to build your network and connect with others working in the clean energy, environmental, and sustainability sectors. READ MORE
