American Ethanol Steps in as Sponsor of Two NASCAR Races
by Holly Jessen (Ethanol Producer Magazine) American Ethanol’s partnership with NASCAR has extended with an official sponsorship of two upcoming NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races. The American Ethanol 200 will be held July 14 and Sept. 15 at the Iowa Speedway located in Newton, Iowa. “The NASCAR Camping World Truck series race is a well-established series,” Tara Chandra, spokesperson, told EPM. “There will be more to come on the general partnership closer to the race dates.”
…The 2012 NASCAR season is the second in which NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series races utilize E15. This is American Ethanol’s first entitlement sponsorship of a specific NASCAR race.
…American Ethanol’s logo is also visible to NASCAR fans in other places, including on NACAR race car fuel ports and the green flags waved at the start and finish lines as well as other green flags passed out to race fans.
In related news, NASCAR and the U.S. EPA announced an agreement May 21 in an EPA press release. The goal is to work together to raise public awareness about environmentally friendly products and solutions to environmental challenges in the U.S. The EPA will provide NASCAR with technical assistance and environmental expertise through EPA programs such as Design for the Environment and the Economy, Energy and Environment. Jim Jones, EPA’s acting assistant administrator for the office of chemical safety and pollution prevention said NASCAR could be a “powerful platform” for raising environmental awareness among the general public, encouraging them to use safer products and support the green economy. “The EPA and NASCAR partnership attests to the progress NASCAR has already made on environmental stewardship through greener fuel choices and multiple recycling initiatives for waste and automotive fluids,” he said, “and highlights opportunities to further these efforts.” READ MORE and MORE (Ethanol Producer Magazine/Richard Childress Racing) and MORE (DomesticFuel.com)
