(Bio Energy Times) In a groundbreaking move set to redefine the future of clean mobility, ThunderPlus, India’s fastest-growing EV charging company, and Trinity Cleantech today unveiled the world’s first mobile, ethanol-based 150 kW DC fast charger-cum-generator, the ME Energy Rapid Charger 150. This innovative product represents a decisive leap towards a grid-independent, self-reliant, and sustainable EV ecosystem for India. It directly supports the nation’s vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat by offering an indigenous, biofuel-based alternative to the diesel generators and grid-dependent charging stations that currently dominate the market.
Unlike conventional fast chargers that rely on heavy infrastructure, prolonged DISCOM approvals, and costly high-capacity grid connections, the Rapid Charger 150 can be deployed anywhere, becoming fully operational within 72 hours and completely independent of the grid. Powered entirely by ethanol, a renewable bio-fuel derived from plant produce, the system reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 80% compared to diesel while cutting operational costs and setup time by more than 50%.
Speaking about the launch, Rajeev YSR, Director & CEO of ThunderPlus, said, “ThunderPlus has always been at the forefront of solving India’s charger-anxiety problem. With the ethanol-based Rapid Charger 150, we are collapsing setup timelines, cutting diesel dependence, and giving our partners a cleaner, mobile, and instantly deployable charging solution. This innovation marks a pivotal moment for India’s EV ecosystem and a proud step towards true self-reliance; and we dearly call it ‘Liquid Electricity.’”
“I congratulate both ThunderPlus & Trinity Cleantech for bringing such a transformative solution to the Indian EV industry. This charging station will revolutionize the ecosystem by cutting down high capex, long wait times, and infrastructure bottlenecks; that delay the commissioning of DC fast chargers. Most importantly, reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. It’s a great use-case for Olectra, fleet operators and likes us — especially for roadside assistance and depot backup — accelerating our bus launches while the grid catches up”, said Mahesh Babu, Managing Director, Olectra Green Tech Ltd., India’s largest electric bus manufacturer, who officially unveiled the charger.
Raj Kumar, Executive Director of Trinity Cleantech Pvt Ltd., said, “This product is being manufactured by Trinity Cleantech under the patented technology license of ME Energy GmbH, Germany. The ME Energy Rapid Charger 150 is now ready for deployment across India, which offers a scalable, economical, and fast path for companies committed to decarbonizing operations.”
Taking inspiration from Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, whose strong advocacy for ethanol penetration aims to curb diesel dependence and pollution, this launch strengthens India’s roadmap for bio-fuel and EV integration. The unveiling event was graced by leading figures from India’s clean-mobility sector, including Chandramouli Vemula from SIDBI, who lauded the innovation for aligning with the nation’s green-finance and sustainable-mobility objectives.
The Rapid Charger 150 unlocks multiple possibilities for India’s EV future, from grid-independent public charging at highways, remote depots, and logistics hubs, to mobile backup for intercity and intracity electric buses, roadside assistance for EVs stranded due to low charge, and green power supply for construction and mining operations where grid connectivity is absent. It can also serve as an eco-friendly replacement for diesel gensets in residential and commercial applications, delivering both power and charging capabilities.
ThunderPlus is India’s fastest-growing integrated EV charging company, operating over 250 charging hubs, 1,000+ chargers, and a network across 16 states and 60 cities. The company provides charger manufacturing, EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) services, and Charge Point Operations (CPO) under one integrated platform, serving leading OEMs such as Tata Motors, Olectra, JBM, Flix Bus, Turno, Mahindra, and Ather.
Trinity Cleantech, on the other hand, is a pioneer in advanced clean-energy systems and green-mobility solutions. Through its collaboration with ME Energy GmbH, Germany, the company brings patented ethanol-based charging technologies to India, aligning with national goals of reducing carbon emissions and fossil-fuel dependency.
By integrating bio-fuel technology with fast-charging innovation, ThunderPlus and Trinity Cleantech have given India a new blueprint for sustainable energy independence — one that replaces diesel with ethanol, delays with speed, and dependence with innovation. This is not just the launch of a charger; it’s the beginning of a cleaner India on the move. READ MORE
