Press Cane Donates Ambulances to Chikwawa, Nsanje Hospitals
(Nyasa Times) Press Cane Limited, an Ethanol producing company has donated two Ethanol powered minibus ambulances to Chikwawa and Nsanje District Hospitals.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at Chikwawa District Hospital on Friday, Press Cane Limited General Manager, Dr Christopher Guta, said what Malawi should do is to secure funding for farmers to grow more sugarcane so that ethanol production is not stalled.
Guta cited Brazil as one of the countries which is generating power from Ethanol and achieving positive social economic development.
“Malawi made a commitment to use 100 percent ethanol for motor vehicles and improve the energy sector. Our country needs to have alternatives, in case there is no fuel, ethanol should come in to support the transport sector,” said Guta, adding that Government also needs to set prices for ethanol in filling stations.
According to Guta, they decided to support the health sector as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) hoping that their gesture is going to minimize mobility challenges the two district hospitals were facing. READ MORE
