Biofuels Plant Up and Running in Lee County

(WinkNews)  …The motors started running bright and early at 6:00 Saturday morning at FL Biofuels. The facility, which is located next to the State Farmer’s Market on Edison Ave, will turn vegetable oil into Diesel.

The company received a $500,000 grant from Lee County and the federal government. After years of delays and red tape production has started.

…Used vegetable oil is brought in and mixed with methanol. That will break down the oil to create 90% biofuel and 10% glycerin. The glycerin will be sold to medical or cosmetic companies. Whereas the biodiesel will be sold to Lee County, which has a contract to use the fuel for its LeeTran buses and other diesel vehicles.  READ MORE
