The Maryland Clean Energy Center is pleased to announce the addition of Joanne Ivancic, Executive Director, Advanced Biofuels USA to the MCEC 2015 Advisory Council.
Advanced Biofuels USA , a nonprofit educational organization headquartered in Frederick, Maryland, advocates for the adoption of advanced biofuels as an energy security, economic development, military flexibility and climate change/pollution control solution. Technology neutral and feedstock agnostic, it serves as a resource for everyone from opinion-leaders, decision-makers and legislators to industry professionals, investors, researchers, educators and journalists via www.AdvancedBiofuelsUSA.org, technology assessments, government staff briefings, conference participation, lectures, and general assistance to those interested in advanced biofuels.
"I'm excited to bring expertise on biofuels to conversations about energy in Maryland," noted Ivancic. "So often people think only of electricity and heat when considering energy. I'm glad to see MCEC giving more attention to transportation fuels, as well."
The Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) is an instrumentality of the state created with an economic development mission to advance the adoption of clean energy along with energy efficiency products, services and technologies. MCEC works to leverage private sector capital to implement public sector energy goals as well as to help homeowners and businesses save money on their energy bills.
Members of the Advisory Council are appointed annually by the MCEC Board of Directors to provide strategic guidance and counsel, represent the views of their sector, and help mobilize partners in their industries and communities.
The Advisory Council represents a broad range of energy and technology experts, financial and legal professionals, and community leaders – who serve to advise the staff and Board of MCEC. “The Advisory Council is a critical element of our operation,” said George Ashton, Board Chairman and CEO of SOL Systems. “We call on them frequently as subject matter experts. The contribution of their time and expertise is immensely valuable. ” said Executive Director, I. Katherine Magruder. MCEC strives to insure the Council is composed of a diverse group representing geographic areas across the state, a broad mix of business interests from the energy sector, and key government agencies that work on related policy or programs.

Advanced Biofuels USA,a nonprofit educational organization advocates for the adoption of advanced biofuels as an energy security, military flexibility, economic development and climate change mitigation/pollution control solution. Our key tool for accomplishing this is our web site,www.AdvancedBiofuelsUSA.org, a resource for everyone from opinion-leaders, decision-makers and legislators to industry professionals, investors, feedstock growers and researchers; as well as journalists, teachers and students.
MCEC is authorized by statute to facilitate public- private and public-public partnerships, and is using its unique financing capabilities to accomplish its mission. With implementation of the Maryland Home Energy Loan Program (MHLEP) in 2011 and the Maryland Clean Energy Capital Program (MCAP)in 2012; MCEC is working to remove barriers associated with access to capital for residential, commercial, institutional, municipal and not-for-profit consumers who wish to make energy improvements and related capital investments.
