Casey's and Quick Oil Company Win Biofuel Marketing Awards Secretary Naig Recognizes Efforts to Promote Ethanol and Biodiesel

(FUELIowa) Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig awarded biofuel marketing awards to two central Iowa-based companies. Quick Oil Company in Perry was winner of the 2019 Biodiesel Marketing Award, and Casey's General Stores headquartered in Ankeny received this year's Ethanol Marketing Award.

The annual awards, initiated 11 years ago by FUELIowa in partnership with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, recognizes fuel marketers going above and beyond to promote and sell home-grown biofuels.

"We commend Casey's General Stores for their outstanding efforts to educate consumers about higher blends of ethanol," said FUELIowa President and CEO Dawn Carlson. "Casey's has committed to offering E15 at more than 500 locations over the next four years and currently has 13 stores with E15 and E85. In addition, they have participated in educational campaigns to drive consumer interest in these products and have provided significant discounts to draw attention to the new alternative fuels."

"Quick Oil Company is a great customer-focused success story," continued Carlson. "Rod Gittins left the family farming business 30 years ago and purchased Quick Oil Company. Today, Mr. Gittins' fuel marketing business allows him to provide his farm customers fuel products that are essential to their business success.

"Farming is in Mr. Gittins' blood and his passion for agriculture has created a natural belief in the sale and marketing of biodiesel," she added. "He understands the benefits that biodiesel provides his customers, as well as Iowa's economy."

Secretary Naig presented the awards during the FUELIowa Annual Membership Meeting in Des Moines, Iowa. Rod Gittins received the award for Quick Oil Company and Doug Beech, legal counsel and director of public affairs for Casey's General Stores, accepted the award on behalf of Casey's General Stores.

The Marketing Awards are designed to honor exceptional efforts to market ethanol and biodiesel through commitment and belief in the product. Winners are selected based upon five core criteria: product offerings, consumer education, hosting special events highlighting ethanol, initiation of new advertisements or marketing efforts, and commitment to increase biofuel availability.
