BNDES Approves R$ 60.5 Million for Expansion of Coamo's Storage Facilities in Paraná.

(BNDES News Agency) Resources enable the construction of silos in Campo Mourão and São João do Ivaí, adding 52,700 tons of capacity. -- The Brazilian National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has approved R$ 60.5 million in financing for the Coamo Agroindustrial Cooperative, aimed at expanding grain storage capacity and improving logistics infrastructure at two facilities in Paraná.

With these resources, five silos with a total capacity of 32,700 tons will be built at the corn ethanol plant in Campo Mourão, in the central-west region of Paraná state. The operation also enables the expansion of the Rio Ivaí unit, in São João do Ivaí, northern Paraná, with two silos of 10,000 tons each, in addition to improvements in the drying and transportation systems, increasing the unit's capacity from the current 40,000 to 60,000 tons.

The BNDES financing was approved through the Warehouse Construction and Expansion Program (PCA) and the Cooperative Development Program for Adding Value to Agricultural Production (Prodecoop), both with resources from the Plano Safra (Harvest Plan). In addition to the BNDES credit, the investments include contributions from the cooperative's own resources.

“With an investment of R$ 64.2 million, the project foresees the expansion of Coamo's storage infrastructure, with investments in silos, drying systems and grain transportation in units located in Paraná, directly serving more than 32,000 cooperative members,” stated the president of BNDES, Aloizio Mercadante.

The Campo Mourão project foresees a total investment of R$ 41 million, with R$ 32.8 million in new national machinery and equipment and R$ 8.2 million in civil works. The five silos, with a capacity of 545,000 60 kg sacks of corn, will be built adjacent to the cooperative's industrial park and will meet the growing demand for grain delivery by cooperative members in the region, in addition to ensuring the raw material for the corn ethanol plant.

The plant, with the capacity to process 1,700 tons of corn per day, will produce 765,000 liters of ethanol daily, in addition to byproducts such as 510 tons of DDGS (distiller's dried grains with solubles), an input used in animal feed, and 34 tons of corn oil, destined for biodiesel production. The investment adds value to the production of the cooperative members, which until now has been predominantly sold in its raw state, and expands the industrialization of the raw material.

At the Rio Ivaí unit, in São João do Ivaí (PR), R$ 23.2 million will be allocated for the construction of two silos with a capacity of 10,000 tons each. The project also includes the installation of a dryer, replacement of conveyor belts, and implementation of flow centralizers in the silo tunnels. The expansion will increase the unit's static capacity from 663,000 to 997,000 sacks, to improve the flow of agricultural products and preserve grain quality while producers await better marketing conditions.
