Workshop on Sustainable Biomass Production in South-East Africa    March 19-21, 2013    Maputo, Mozambique

The workshop is organised by NL Agency with the support of WIP Renewable Energies. The objective is to discuss and share experiences on current initiatives for the development of sound frameworks for bioenergy in African countries. Results of recent and on-going projects funded through the Global Sustainable Biomass Programme and the Sustainable Biomass Import Programme (the Netherlands Programmes for Sustainable Biomass – NPSB) as well as through the Daey Ouwens Fund (DOF) will be presented (www.agentschapnl.nl/en/biomass). The main objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Discuss and share experiences on policy development for sustainable biomass in African countries
  • Discuss and share experiences on international initiatives on sustainable biomass
  • Present results of projects funded through the Netherlands Programmes for Sustainable Biomass (NPSB) as well as through the Daey Ouwens Fund (DOF)
  • Discuss cooperation opportunities for the follow-up of biomass projects and programmes for Africa

Participants are key stakeholders from Mozambique, Tanzania, South Africa, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, and other African countries, as well as from the international bioenergy community.
