RFA: Ethanol Sector Generated 35 Million Tons of Animal Feed Last Year
(Renewable Fuels Association) The animal feed created as a byproduct of U.S. ethanol production could supply beef for 50 billion quarter-pound hamburgers every day, the Renewable Fuels Association says in a report. U.S. ethanol producers generated almost 35 million metric tons of animal feed in the 2009-10 marketing year, an amount exceeding grain consumption by all beef cattle in U.S. feedlots during that period, the report said. The 2010-11 marketing-year output is expected to be 39 million metric tons.
