New Pumps Appearing at Sheetz as Gas Stations Offer Ethanol

by Nick Malawskey (PennLive.com)  Noticed the new pumps at some Sheetz stores in Pennsylvania? The Altoona-based convenience store and gas station chain has started offering Unleaded-15 alongside Flex-Fuel at new stores and a number of its older locations.

Over the last year the company has rolled out the new gas offerings to about 90 stores across Pennsylvania, and 190 stores across the company’s 550 store footprint.

“We decided to start offering this product because it’s cheaper, higher octane and it is cleaner burning,” said Mike Lorenz, Sheetz executive vice president of petroleum supply. 

The new pumps appear right next to motorists’ traditional three choices (87, 89 and 93 octane gas). Unlike the traditional offerings, Unleaded-15 contains 15 percent ethanol as opposed to regular gasolines’ 10 percent ethanol blend.  READ MORE
