The bill, titled “Farewell to Unnecessary Energy Lifelines (FUEL) Reform Act,” or H.R. 3419, was introduced on July 26 and referred to the House Committee on Agriculture, and the Committees on Oversight and Government Reform, and Science, Space and Technology. To date, Reps. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas; Trent Franks, R-Ariz.; Walter Jones Jr., R-N.C.; and Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, have signed on to cosponsor the bill.

The legislation aims to eliminate the Biobased Markets Program; the Biorefinery, Renewable Chemical, and Biobased Product Manufacturing Assistance Program; the Repowering Assistance Program; The Biorefinery Program for Advanced Biofuels; the Biodiesel Fuel Education Program; the Rural Energy for America Program; the Biomass Research and Development Initiative; the Feedstock Flexibility Program for Bioenergy Producers; the Biomass Crop Assistance Program; and Community Wood Energy Program.
