Japan’s Mol, Trafigura Eye Biodiesel Bunker Supply
by Maiko Nakashima (Argus Media) Japanese shipping firm Mitsui OSK Line (Mol) and trading firm Trafigura will explore establishing a regular biodiesel supply as a marine fuel for chemical tankers.
Mol, Mol’s wholly-owned subsidiary Mol Chemical Tankers (Molct), Trafigura and Trafigura’s bunker supplier TFG Marine have signed an agreement to conduct a joint study on biodiesel bunker supply, with the aim to provide regular deliveries to Molct’s chemical tanker fleet. It was not disclosed when the agreement was signed.
The bunker ports could be Singapore, Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) and the US Gulf coast, as the fleet is operated in the region, Mol said.
