Flex Fuel Becomes More Prominent

by Caleb Taylor  (Paragould Daily Press)   Paragould car dealerships offer flex fuel cars to customers but until recently E85 gasoline has not been available at any local gas stations.

With it opened its new location on West Kingshighway, Kum and Go became the only gas station in Paragould to offer E85 for people looking to fill up their tank.

Jeramiah Curry, Glen Sain Ford Inc. salesman, warned that putting E85 fuel in vehicles that weren’t E85 rated would be a costly mistake.

… Randy Meyer, vice president of fuels with Kum and Go’s store support center in West Des Moines, Iowa, said the decision to have E85 as an option for customers in Paragould was due to an increase in demand. Curry said E85 use had been less in the South than in the Midwest because of there being more corn in the Midwest, which is what ethanol is made from.

“We have been selling E85 for a long time in areas in the Midwest,” Meyer said. “Due to the number of flex fuel vehicles increasing dramatically, we wanted to make it available to those that want it. The number [of flex fuel vehicles] are increasing across the country and it gives customers [extra fuel] options.”  READ MORE
