CALL FOR ABSTRACTS and STUDENT POSTERS:  tcbiomass2017   —   September 19-21, 2017   —   Chicago, IL    DEADLINE:  April 15, 2017

Researchers and technology developers are invited to share their process innovations and insights to enable the production of clean heat and power, transportation fuels, chemicals, biochar, and other high-value products. Undergraduate and graduate students whose posters are selected will be invited to compete in this year’s tcbiomass2017 Student Poster Challenge, offering the opportunity to win $1000!

tcbiomass2017 Technical Program Committee invites you to share your latest breakthroughs, experiences, and innovations with the global bioenergy industry.

Oral and poster abstracts of 250-300 words are due April 15, 2017.​​​

Researchers, scientists, engineers, technicians, and others can take advantage of the opportunity to share your knowledge with technical and strategic decision-makers and strategists. We are looking for abstracts in the following technology areas:

  • Biomass availability, logistics, characterization and pretreatment for thermochemical conversion
  • Gasification technologies and processes
    • Heat and power
    • Transportation fuels
    • Chemicals, materials and intermediates
  • Pyrolysis technologies and processes
    • Heat and power
    • Transportation fuels
    • Chemicals, materials and intermediates
  • Novel technologies and process
  • Policy, deployment and markets

We ask those submitting abstracts to also identify sector(s) of the bioeconomy for which their technical work is focused: clean heat and power, transportation fuels, chemicals, solid carbon materials, or other products. These application themes will be an element, along with the technology area, in the organization of the technical program for the tcbiomass2017 conference.

Student Poster Contest:

The conference will host a competitive Student Poster Contest to help connect today’s top engineering students with global bioenergy experts. Undergraduate and Graduate students whose posters are chosen from a selective pool of applicants will be invited to attend tcbiomass2017 and participate in the dedicated poster sessions.

Poster presentations will be judged by the Technical Program Committee and evaluated on technical merit and both visual and oral communication effectiveness.

  • Cash prize of $1,000 for winning individual or team
  • Potential publication in a highly-respected trade journal
  • Networking opportunities with industry professionals
  • International exposure
  • Abstracts must be submitted and presented in English and should be 250-300 words in length.
  • You may submit as many abstracts as you like (submit each separately). After the 15 April 2017 deadline, our review team will assess each submission.
  • If your proposal is selected, you will be invited to present your paper or poster to an audience of your peers at tcbiomass2017, 19-21 September in Chicago, IL, USA.
  • Paper author will be offered a discounted conference registration.
  • You will be required to provide a manuscript for inclusion in the conference proceedings.
  • Selected authors must provide a short biography (150 words or less) and a self-portrait.
