WEBINAR: Winrock/US EPA Stove Use Monitoring Studies in Guatemala, Vietnam, and Malawi — July 19, 2017 —

In our sector, there is growing recognition of the complex, inter-related barriers to widespread uptake and sustained, exclusive use of improved stoves/fuels. Promising laboratory results showing significant reductions of fuel consumption and toxic emissions are rarely reproducible in the field when the stove is integrated into intricate household cooking systems based on traditional burning of solid fuels. To achieve benefits, use of cleaner and/or more efficient options must be sustained and account for a substantial proportion of cooking tasks.

Come hear about Winrock and US EPA’s work with Berkeley Air Monitoring Group and three partners in Guatemala, Vietnam, and Malawi to assess and understand patterns of adoption and use of cleaner and more efficient cooking interventions.

Are you interested in finding out if the stoves you’re promoting are actually being used consistently in homes? Attend this webinar to learn about the monitoring tools used in these adoption studies (including SUMs analysis software); the findings of each study; and the challenges and lessons learned along the way. We will also share recommendations for implementers interested in undertaking similar studies. Presented in collaboration with: • Berkeley Air Monitoring Group • StoveTeam International • SNV Vietnam • MAEVE  READ MORE
