US Department of Energy Biomass Program Releases “Land-Use Change and Bioenergy” Summary Report

(US Department of Energy)  The Biomass Program released the “Land-Use Change and Bioenergy” summary report. This publication describes the Biomass Program’s efforts to examine the intersection of land-use change and bioenergy production. It outlines legislation requiring land-use change assessments, key data and modeling challenges, and the research needs to better assess and understand the impact of bioenergy policy on land use. This summary was prepared in July 2011 by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Biomass Program. It was informed by the “Land-Use Change and Bioenergy: Report from the 2009 Workshop,” available online on Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s website.  READ MORE
