UNEP Releases Global Renewables Status Report 2012
by Megan Sapp (Biofuels Digest) In Kenya, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) published its Global Renewables Status Report 2012, which showed that renewables accounted for almost half of the estimated 208 gigawatts (GW) of electric capacity added globally in 2011. Investment in solar energy, wind turbines, geothermal energy, biomass and biofuels maintained an upward trajectory, and biofuels provided 3 percent of global road transport fuels in 2011.
