Saving the Environment…and Some Money: Sandwich Company Recycles Waste Cooking Oil

by Mark Burridge (Wicked Local/Sandwich Broadsider)  Cape Cod Biofuels (CCBF) works with restaurants across Cape Cod and the South Shore to convert used cooking oils into biofuels.

Marc Watson, a co-owner of the company, said Cape Cod Biofuels isn’t only environmentally friendly, it also makes sense financially.

“We used to spend a lot of money on diesel fuel,” said Watson, referencing the construction companies that he, James Chace and Andrew Davison ran (Watson’s was the family business, Watson Construction). “We were trying to offset costs and thought of biofuels.”

…“Restaurants used to give the oil away,” he said. “Now, it’s a commodity.”

…“We pick up 15-20,000 gallons from over 700 restaurants per month,” Watson said.   READ MORE
