Oregon Will Begin Requiring a Biodiesel Blend in August
Beginning Aug. 1, with a few exceptions, diesel fuel in nine northwest Oregon counties will be required to contain at least two percent biodiesel. The change comes about two years after Oregon began requiring 10 percent ethanol in most gasoline sold in the state.
State officials, including the Department of Agriculture, say biodiesel produces fewer harmful emissions than regular diesel and is a renewable energy source produced in part by Oregon farmers, rather than by foreign sources. … Some retailers already sell a biodiesel blend but it becomes mandatory Aug. 1 in Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington, Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, Yamhill, Polk, and Marion counties.
