Franken: Nation Will Not Drill Its Way out of Energy Problems

by Jeff Hage  (The Fergus Falls Daily Journal)  If there was ever a time in our history that the United States will not drill its way out of its energy problems, it’s now.

That was the message Sen. Al Franken brought to Fergus Falls Friday where he was the keynote speaker at the Minnesota Renewable Energy Roundtable held at the Bigwood Event Center.

…“You’ve never seen a 45-day ethanol spill,” Franken told The Journal.

“You haven’t seen a biodiesel platform explode and resulting in the death of 11 people, either,” he said. “Ethanol will never threaten the fishing industry, shrimp or our wildlife.”

With an affective renewable energy program centered around ethanol production the United States can reduce its dependency on oil and reduce the threat of future drilling mishaps while supporting the American farmers,” Franken said.  READ MORE
