Edmonton Waste-to-Energy Project Expands with Research Center

 by Hanneke Brooymans (Edmonton Journal)      …There are three different pieces to the city’s (Edmonton’s) efforts to convert garbage to fuel.  The largest piece is a waste-to-biofuel plant, which will begin construction late this year. The plant will be built by Enerkem Greenfield Alberta Biofuels, a commercial partnership between two companies. Then there is a $38-million facility where unusable scraps from the city’s composting and recycling facilities will be shredded into a fluffy feedstock for the biofuel plant.
