Chile Invests US$30 Million In Biofuels
by Kamilla Go (Santiago Times) Chile’s Energy Minister Marcelo Tokman and a Corporation for Public Works (Corfo) vice president announced a US$30 million investment in biofuel research in 2010. The project will be funded by alternative energy companies Deserp Bioenergy, Alga Efuels, Balbiofuels, with US$9 million provided by the government.
The initiative will study so-called second generation biofuels like those based on algae, which are cheaper and more sustainable than first generation biofuels based on sugar, starch, and vegetable oil. READ MORE
