Arcata Council Moves Forward on Biodiesel Approval
(Times-Standard) The Arcata City Council voted this week to allow a proposed biodiesel plant on Giuntoli Lane.
The council unanimously approved environmental findings, a mitigated negative declaration and a planned development permit. The council continued the hearing for an ordinance that would add an overlay zone allowing the development.
Neighbors had expressed concerns, but a representative from the adjacent Town and Country Mobile Home Village said that additional conditions added by city staff led her to withdraw opposition to the development.
Several supporters spoke in favor of the project, saying that biodiesel is difficult to obtain in Humboldt County. READ MORE
